About Esperanto
Nowadays, Esperanto has spread widely throughout the world - it is spoken in over 100 countries, and the number of speakers is estimated to be anywhere between 200,000 to 5 million. There are Esperanto magazines, newspapers, professional organisations, sports clubs, special interest groups, and information in and about the international language fills the internet.
As a starting point, we recommend a visit to the Australian Esperanto Association - to see what local groups and events are happening in our corner of the world, and perhaps find a course near you!
We also recommend checking out the "Multilingual Information Center" about Esperanto, as it is a good starting point to the world-wide Esperanto community online. There you will find links to many large Esperanto sites, including sites offering free online courses, such as Lernu!
Lastly, if you would like some guidance as to where and how to start learning Esperanto in a manner and rhythm that suits your lifestyle, then feel free to come and visit us - beginners are always welcome at out get-togethers - or if you are too shy, then simply send us a quick message!
